CaratLane, a Tata product, unveiled an ambitious statewide event to commemorate 18 years of growth, community, and service. In honor of CaratLane’s 18th anniversary, employees nationwide came together digitally to win the Guinness World Records title for the most people cutting and slicing cake at once online.

467 cakes were sliced in more than 400 sites, including retail establishments, regional offices, and fulfillment centers (FCs). Employees from all departments within the company got together in real time to commemorate the brand’s 18th anniversary via a single, synchronized video conference.

“Reaching 18 is a significant milestone that has been completely influenced by the journey we’ve taken with our three million+ clients. We have nothing but our sincere gratitude for their ongoing benevolence. At the same time, everyone in our shops, factories, fulfillment centers, business partners, and vendor partners not only participated but also made this journey incredibly thrilling and unforgettable. As we transformed the jewelry industry into a new era, there was never a dull moment. As a result, commemorating this unique occasion with our clients, staff, partners, suppliers, and well-wishers at more than 400 sites will always be ingrained in our collective memory, with the GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title being the cherry on top,” said Saumen Bhaumik, Managing Director of CaratLane.

Each participant clearly displayed their commercially available cake to their camera, followed a loud, central start signal, and continually cut or sliced it for at least ten seconds in order to set the record. In order to ensure complete compliance with all technological standards, every single video feed across all 400+ displays was monitored and recorded as part of a thorough verification process. In keeping with its fundamental beliefs, CaratLane also fulfilled the zero-food-waste goal. A pre-approved food distribution strategy guaranteed that all of the cakes sliced during the attempt would be shared and devoured locally by teams and nearby communities right after the event.

This world record was both a joyous celebration of the past and an exciting springboard for the future as CaratLane blew out the candles on eighteen years of prosperity.
