The foundation stone of Narayana Health City in New Town, Kolkata was laid by Chief Minister of West Bengal, Mamata Banerjee, and Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty, Founder and Chairman of Narayana Health.

The 10-lakh square foot facility will have specialties like Oncology, Cardiac Sciences, Organ Transplants, Orthopaedics, Advanced Trauma Care, Neurology, Renal Sciences, Cardiac Care and Gastroenterology.

Narayana Health City will have 1100 beds on the campus. The expansion will increase the total bed capacity to 2500 beds.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Devi Prasad Shetty said that the amount of support and quick assistance that he received from the Bengal government was great. It was even better than other states. It is due to the extensive support that he could organize the foundation stone laying ceremony so quickly. He also thanked the Chief Minister for attending the event in person.

This is the fifth hospital of Narayana Health in Kolkata. The other hospitals in Kolkata are Narayana Hospital RN Tagore Hospital, Mukundapur, Narayana Hospital, Howrah and Chunavati, and Narayana Hospital, Barasat.

This will be built in several phases and is slated to become the largest private healthcare facility in Eastern India.

With this initiative, Narayana Health is all set to bring great changes in the health sector in Bengal.
