At a Cancer Awareness Health Talk organized in association with the Press Club, Kolkata, senior cancer doctors from Fortis Hospital, Anandapur, emphasized how early diagnosis greatly enhances cancer survival outcomes and quality of life. The purpose of the event, which drew more than fifty media representatives, was to inform the public about cancer treatment advancements, early detection, and prevention. Active participation in the session reaffirmed the increasing demand for prompt, well-informed cancer care.

The session was led by a distinguished panel of experts from Fortis Hospital Anandapur, including Dr Debapriya Mondal, Consultant, Medical Oncology, Dr Sujata Datta, Senior Consultant, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Dr Shrinivas Narayan, Director, Onco-Urology, and Ms Richa S Debgupta, Executive Vice President, Chief of Strategy, Group Head – ESG, Business Head Jaipur and Kolkata, Fortis Healthcare.

Early warning sign recognition, the value of routine tests, lifestyle changes, and the significance of a multidisciplinary approach to cancer management were the main topics of the interactive event. According to studies, there is an increasing number of malignancies in Kolkata, mostly connected to the head and neck, breast, uterus, and prostate, as well as lung and oral cancers, which are more common in men because of heavy tobacco use. Women’s top worries include breast and cervical malignancies, which are frequently associated with delayed diagnosis and low awareness, particularly in rural regions.

By interacting directly with the media, they hope to close the knowledge gap between the general public and medical professionals, guaranteeing that every household receives fast, reliable, and responsible health information.
