In a significant achievement for India’s travel and tourist sector, the Indo-International Tourism Chamber of Commerce (IITCC), India’s first and only dedicated tourism chamber of commerce, was formally founded in Kolkata. For tourism experts nationwide, the event represented a turning point in the development of an organized, cohesive, and internationally connected sector. IITCC was founded with the mission of bringing structure, representation, collaboration, and international standards to India’s tourism industry. Its goal is to create new opportunities and long-term growth for stakeholders throughout the tourism value chain, including travel companies, hoteliers, destination managers, event planners, tour operators, and allied sectors.

Abbhishek Chaudhuri, Founder & President of IITCC, said, “India is one of the world’s most powerful tourism destinations, yet we have long had a cohesive representative body committed only to the interests of this industry. IITCC aspires to strengthen India as a worldwide tourism powerhouse; represent the industry’s interests at the national and international levels; Create links between enterprises, governments, and worldwide tourist boards; Create skill-development and certification programs; Support MSMEs, startups, and aspiring tourist entrepreneurs; Encourage sustainable and responsible tourism; increase trade opportunities and tourism investment.

The major goal of IITCC is to establish a strong, structured, and credible platform for India’s tourism industry by facilitating cross-sector collaboration, worldwide alliances, and sustainable development.

IITCC’s objective includes establishing Asia’s largest tourist chamber and developing India’s most trustworthy tourism certification ecosystem; To connect Indian tourism stakeholders with over 50 worldwide tourism boards; To establish IITCC State Chapters, ASEAN Chapters, and Middle East Chapters; to act as the official representative body for tourism policy and reforms.

With its headquarters in India and an international focus, the chamber will seek to improve professional standards, promote responsible tourist practices, hold industry seminars, facilitate global networking, and provide certification programs to boost the sector’s legitimacy.
