A Ride In The Rain Talks About Modern-Day Conflicts
Director Utsab Ray’s film A Ride In The Rain is a short film that has been selected for screening at the ongoing 29th Kolkata International Film Festival.
The press conference of the film was graced by the director and the cast and crew of the film.
The film’s story is about three strangers who take a taxi together on a rainy night. They exchange different views on language, identity, and trauma. What happens next?
“I wanted to narrate a story about the conflict that we are all facing in today’s times. This film has been made with the best intentions and with the sole purpose of telling a story relevant to the current scenario” said the director.
Produced by Utsab Ray, the cinematography has been handled by Debraj Naiya.
Aritra Dutta Banik said “There is no market for short films in Bengal. You can make one but it is next to impossible that you will recover the money you invested. An independent filmmaker might think he is free but I have seen that he is not as free as one would like to think. Kudos to the director for persisting and ultimately completing the film with such dedication”.
The cast of the film consists of Binita Guha, Jeet Sundor, Kalyanmoy Das, and Sarfaraz Farooque.
The duration of the film is 24.20 minutes.
