South African Tourism has successfully concluded the Kolkata leg of its Annual India Roadshow, continuing its focused engagement with the Indian travel trade and highlighting India’s growing significance as a key source market for South Africa, after a successful roadshow kickoff at OTM Mumbai. The roadshow, which is led by Ms. Mitalee Karmarkar, Marketing and Communications Manager (MEISEA), provides a strategic platform for industry collaboration, insights into changing traveler behavior, and the discovery of new business prospects in the corporate, leisure, and MICE travel segments.

Over 220 Indian travel trade agents in Kolkata participated in the roadshow, which featured over 40 exhibitors showcasing a wide range of goods. The multi-city program next went to Delhi, to further build trade partnerships and promote outbound tourism to South Africa as it continues its concentrated engagement with the Indian market.

With a strong outbound travel base and ongoing interest, Kolkata continues to be a strategically significant market for South African tourism. Travelers from the city are looking more and more for carefully planned itineraries that combine relaxation, adventure, and high-end experiences, with wildlife safaris still playing a significant role. By collaborating closely with the tourism industry, South African Tourism hopes to match its products with these changing tastes and encourage more in-depth travel and return visits from the area.

By 2026, South Africa hopes to reach pre-COVID levels of Indian tourist arrivals. It is dedicated to establishing long-term relationships with Indian corporate partners, providing experiences catered to a variety of traveler profiles, and establishing South Africa as a must-see destination. In addition to reaffirming the nation’s dedication to deepening its connections with the Indian market, this roadshow will encourage an increasing number of tourists to visit Rainbow Land in the years to come.

Additionally, the nation will host the 2027 ODI World Cup, offering a thrilling chance to highlight the nation’s many tourist attractions and draw tourists from all over the world. The tourism board is committed to growing its footprint in India through continued trade involvement, focused consumer outreach, and creative marketing efforts.
