Aditi Rao Hydari Showstopper Of Gaurang Shah’s Sindoor Collection
When Gaurang Shah showed his “Sindoor” collection at Lakmé Fashion Week in collaboration with FDCI, including the hues of the Earth, Sky, and Fire, there was a spectacular explosion of color.
As reds of all shades added mesmerizing splendor to the collection, it moved with tremendous grandeur from ochre to crimson, then onto ruby and burgundy. Red is Gaurang’s favorite color. Before revealing it on the runway, Gaurang spent months conducting research for his “Sindoor” collection.
Gaurang focused on traditional weaves, which are rich in texture and patterns, for such a magnificent appearance. Kanjeevaram from the South was a stunning example of the splendor of silk weaving, while Paithani from Maharashtra was opulent. Along with the ever-popular miraculous muslin, Banaras brocades from Varanasi, Kota, Uppada, and Khadi, were majestic in form and design.
As intricate Gara designs, Kasuti, Aari, Chikan, and Kutch stitching were showcased with splendor on the ramp, embellishments furthered the drama of the outfits. Gaurang added the complexity of Bandhani, Shibori, patachitra, kalamkari, and cheriyal paintings for a deeper study of fine crafts.
Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari, wearing a shimmering, gold brocade lehenga and matching choli, as well as a vermillion, sheer dupatta adorned with delicate, floral embroidery, finished the big “Sindoor” presentation by Gaurang in style.
Gaurang Shah’s stunning “Sindoor” collection for wedding and formal wear displayed an extraordinary language of craftsmanship that conveyed a timeless tale.
The “Sindoor” collection brings together a variety of crafts that were never intended to be together.
