Aesculapia 2019 Organized; Awareness Program on Organ Donation
Aesculapia 2019 is the annual social fest of Kolkata Medical College. This was initiated in the year 1947.
This was a first of its kind medical academic fest encompassing all disciplines of medicine and surgery. It also helped one to serve and educate too.
The three day medical convention was a platform for undergraduate and postgraduate students and also served as a platform for the participation of doctors.
As part of the medical conference, an awareness program on organ donation to the doctors and medical students was also organized at Kolkata Medical College.
Professor Dr Monimoy Mukhopadhy, Dr Tamalkanti Ghosh and others graced the panel discussion on organ donation and why it is so necessary in today’s times.
While donation has gained prominence in South India and other parts, it is still not so prevalent in East India. The doctors highlighted on the fact that people must be made aware of the benefits of organ donation and how donating organs can help save a person’s life. There is no lower limit to organ donation. However the maximum age limit is 60 years. With growing age, the quality of the organs decline. Hence it is advisable to donate before that age.
With such awareness programs being conducted, people will no doubt be made aware about the benefits of organ donation.
