Akorik Deals With The Breakdown Of The Joint Family System
The trailer launch of the upcoming Bengali film Akorik took place in the presence of the cast and crew of the film.
The film is a maiden production of Iceberg Creations LLP.
The film is directed by Tathagata Bhattacherjee and Co-Produced by Deepak Pareek.
In the film AKORIK, an elderly man who was raised in a traditional Bengali joint family system interacts with a young kid who lives with his mother, a single parent. Despite having distinct upbringings and philosophical philosophies, the man and the youngster from two different generations get emotionally close and finally embark on a philosophical trip together. The film addresses the collapse of the Bengali joint family structure, which is a problem for the community’s culture. In an effort to find out whether the breakdown of the joint family structure has made us more autonomous or has caused us to stray from our roots, AKORIK attempts to examine the situation objectively while seeking an answer to a crucial question: Where are we going?
“AKORIK is a family movie about the breakdown of the joint family system into single parenting, which is a major global societal issue. In portraying the relationship between a 75-year-old father and a 10-year-old child, AKORIK attempts to understand how joint families can be perceived as both traditional, ideal, and loving while also being constrictive, conservative, and dogmatic” said the director.
AKORIK was officially selected for screening in the Bengali Panorama section of the recently concluded 28th Kolkata International Film festival (KIFF) 2022. AKORIK has also been a participant in the NFDC Film Bazaar 2022 held in Goa.
The cast consists of eminent actors like Victor Banerjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Anuradha Roy, Angana Bose, Master Ankan Mallick, Sudeshna Chakraborty, Anindo Sarkar, Supratim Roy, Jayashree Adhikary, Abhishek Ganguli and Master Swapnadip Adhikary.
The film is slated for release on 7th April.
