Amazing Performances At Classical Music Event Sangeet Piyasi
Sangeet Piyasi organized a 4 evening long classical music conference at Daga Nikunj premises in Kolkata (December 1 to 4, 2023). This is a much-awaited musical affair that is looked forward to by music enthusiasts. The entire event was dedicated to the deceased vocalist of Agra Gharana, Pt. Vijay Kumar Kichlu passed away a few months ago.
The first day featured artists like Vidushi Suvra Guha (vocal), Acharya Jayanta Bose (Harmonium solo) with tabla maestro Bickram Ghosh, and Odissi exponent Vidushi Sujata Mohapatra.
The second day saw performances on sitar by Pt. Partha Bose with Pt. Sanjay Mukherjee on tabla, dhrupad recital by veteran artist Pt. Falguni Mitra, and tabla solo by Padmashri Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri.
The third day had performances like- Ambarish Das (vocal), Sarode recital by Pt. Debashish Bhattacharya with Pt. Arup Chatterjee. This evening’s final artist was Padma Vibhushan Begum Parveen Sultana (Jyoti Goho was on Harmonium and Abhijit Banerjee was on tabla).
The final evening, titled KISHALAY, saw a performance by young talents. These were the competition winners and all were aged below 16 years. A total number of 32 participants showcased their proficiency in various fields like- vocal, tabla, Kathak, Sarode, flute, santoor, etc. Later they received certificates along with cash rewards.
A grand musical affair indeed.
