Anupam Roy’s Adrishyo Nagordolar Trip Released At KCC With Interpretations By Artists
“Anupam Roy’s songs have been part of many sad, happy, and romantic moments for me. I still remember it was a rainy day and I heard his song Amake Amar Moto Thakte Dao for the first time and I was speechless. Till then I have listened to his songs so much. Now he is my friend and I am glad that I could be a part of such an amazing event” said Sohini Sarkar at the release of Adrishyo Nagordolar Trip.
Adrishyo Nagordolar Trip contains eight songs and this was interpreted by ten artists through eight art forms.
It was curated by Koutenya Sinha and Oiendrila Ray Kapur.
The songs in the album are Awbawsh, Bichar, Kemon achho Annie Hall?, Modhyobitto Trap, Guhamanobir gaan, Tomar awshukh, Kanchanjangha and Jalsagar.
The artists who interpreted the songs using their art mediums were Samit Roy (Graphic art), Rana Pandey and Nilayan Chatterjee (Photography), Oiendrila Ray Kapur (Installation), Sunetra Lahiri (Textile), Pallavi Majumder (Interactive Installation), Jhuma Kundu (Ceramic), Sanjib Barui (Interactive Installation), Swaarup Swapan Chatterjee (Charcoal) and Souvik Das (Ceramic/Iron).
“Music to me is an abstract form of art. I use this medium to communicate my poetry, thoughts, and imagination. Words are the building blocks with the help of which I present my imagination. I began working on the album last year” said Anupam Roy.
Also gracing the launch of this album were Kaushik Ganguly, Churni Ganguly, Srijit Mukherji, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay, Melinda Pavek, US Consul General, Iman Chakraborty, Chandril Bhattacharya, and many more.
Speaking at the event, Shirshendu Mukhopadhyay said “I am a fan of the songs composed by Anupam Roy. This exhibition is one-of-its-kind and I am glad that I could attend this one”.
Chandril Bhattacharya said that the biggest challenge that Anupam will face next is to create another unique concept for his work.
The exhibition is open to the public from 31st March to 2nd April.
