Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals Announced Opening Of Comprehensive Pain Clinic
On July 9, 1984, in Varanasi, a group of medical experts united under the banner of pain relief to establish the Indian Society for Study of Pain (ISSP). To commemorate the founding of ISSP, a non-profit organization that represents medical professionals working in the field of pain medicine and is dedicated to patient care, teaching, training, and research in pain medicine, this day is marked as Pain Foundation Day.
Apollo Multispecialty Hospitals in Kolkata announced the opening of a “Comprehensive Pain Clinic” for patients who require pain management for both acute and chronic situations on the day designated as Pain Foundation Day. An experienced group of diverse doctors will be housed under one roof at The Pain Clinic. With world-class facilities and skilled caregivers on staff, the clinic will offer the best solutions to the patients.
The pain management program is a new rapidly developing super-specialty. This Comprehensive Pain Clinic will adopt a multidisciplinary approach to Pain Management wherein Rehabilitation Medicine and Psychotherapy will also be incorporated into the Pain Management protocols. The clinic will also provide research data for Artificial Intelligence (AI) implementation in developing newer modalities of Pain Management.
The Pain Clinic would help treat patients with postoperative pain, post-traumatic pain as well as patients with rapidly developing malignancy. It will be helpful to patients with Chronic Back Pain, Fibromyalgia, Hip Arthritis, Osteoarthritis of the Knee, Neuropathic conditions, Chronic Cancer Pain, Herpes, Shingles, Trigeminal neuralgia, etc.
Pain management is now recognized in modern medicine as a super-specialty. The foundation and focal feature of this program are the Pain Clinic. Pain Doctors who have completed specialized training and courses first determine the origin of a patient’s pain and treat it accordingly, starting with drugs and moving on to interventional pain management procedures. Interventional pain treatment techniques are highly specialized operations carried out in the least invasive manner possible. In comparison to invasive procedures and surgical interventions, modern pain management has a very high success rate and a very good safety profile. Complication rates are also much lower, which is advantageous for patients.
The pain of any kind, acute or chronic can be treated at The Pain Clinic and this will be helpful for patients of all age groups.
