Actor-turned-filmmaker Arpita Chatterjee presents This is Me, a provocative docuseries that highlights the tales of the LGBTQIA+ community, in a potent attempt to subvert social conventions and biases. During Pride Month, a five-episode series including expert insights and personal narratives is set to debut on News9 Plus, the world’s first news OTT. The series is expected to captivate, educate, and inspire its audience.

In her first documentary, “This is Me,” Chatterjee aims to dispel misconceptions about sexual orientation and gender identity. Prominent members of the LGBTQIA+ community are featured in the series through moving narratives and personal interviews.

Arpita Chatterjee emphasized at the launch event earlier this week in Kolkata the significance of these narratives in cultivating empathy and understanding for the community. “This is Me clarifies the frequently misconstrued concepts of sexual orientation and gender identity. It also draws attention to the major difficulties the community faces,” said Arpita.

The series demonstrates Arpita’s commitment to sensitive and genuine storytelling.

Longtime supporter of LGBTQIA+ rights and filmmaker Onir graced the occasion, praising Chatterjee’s initiative. Onir said, “There is a crucial need to share these stories with a larger audience.”

In addition to providing entertainment, “This is Me” seeks to inform viewers about the legal, sociocultural, and scientific difficulties that the LGBTQIA+ community faces. The series provides a thorough understanding of the community’s experiences, showcasing a worldwide perspective and perspectives from international experts, medical professionals, legal authorities, and academic researchers.

Arpita hopes that the attitude of inclusion and pride carries over past June, especially since Pride Month offers the ideal setting for the series premiere.

Watch “This is Me” now available on News9 Plus to join the campaign redefining how society views the LGBTQIA+ community.
