On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2020, Ashsray Social Welfare and Cultural Foundation honoured seven special women for their contribution to the society. The event was graced by Dipak Das, Rita Das, Indrani Ganguly, Abhishek Dutta, Sumit Saha, Anup Bardhan and others.

The women who were awarded were people from different professions- Mongura Khatun (lady e-rickshaw driver), Pratima Poddar (lady bus driver), Mampy Dey (blind lady teacher), Nandini Bhattacharjee (lady social worker who fights for the rights of the underprivileged men), Smriti Bose (young lady social worker), Mala Paul (lady idol maker) and Anita Mukhopadhyay (martial arts teacher).

Despite the fact that men are equal to women, they are still neglected and exploited in our society. Santu Sinha, Founder of Ashsray Social Welfare and Cultural Foundation wanted to raise his voice against this exploitation of women in the society.

And hence he decided to honor these valiant women from different spheres of life.
