The music launch of the upcoming Bengali film Rajlokkhi O Srikanto took place recently at Tram Deepo.

The music has been composed by Satyaki Banerjee and Anirban Das. Music plays an important role in the film.

The film is inspired by the first volume of eminent Bengali writer Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay’s novel ‘Srikanta’.

The film is about Srikanta, an unmarried man in his mid-thirties, who works in a private nursing home in Kolkata. He has a history of quitting jobs. He wants to live independently and wants to throw away the rules that dictate ordinary life. He meets an old college friend Hukumchand who is now an influential business tycoon. He invites him on a picnic to a hilly province far from Kolkata. Srikanta, eagerly accepts Hukum’s offer.

Srikanta also had a love interest named Rajlokkhi, a destitute refugee from Bangladesh. However the relationship falls apart because of Srikanta’s own mistakes. Her father seizes the opportunity and sells her off to a pimp, who in turn brings her to the city and sells her again to a brothel. What happens next?

The cast of the film consists of Ritwick Chakraborty, Jyotika Jyoti. Bangladeshi actress Jyotika Jyoti will be making her debut with this movie in the Bengali film industry.

Pradipta’s modern day take on the novel has Ritwick Chakraborty as Srikanta while Bangladeshi actress Jyotika Joti plays Rajlakshmi. Rahul Banerjee will be seen in an interesting character of Srikanta’s friend Hukumchand. Sayan Ghosh and Aparajita Ghosh Das will also be seen in pivotal roles in the film.

The film is directed by Pradipto Bhattacharya.

The film is eyeing for release on 20th September.
