In the presence of Dr Sandipan Dhar, Dr Raghubir Banerjee, Dr Rajib Malakar, Dr Avishek Saha, Dr Nishant Agarwal and others, an awareness program titled- Skin Diseases & Untouchability- A Social Stigma was organized at Rotary Sadan.

The event was organized at Indian Society of Paediatric Dermatology (ISPD).

There are various myths revolving around skin diseases even in modern times in society. The event was organized to break those myths around the skin diseases.

Vitiligo is one such skin disease which has given rise to many misconceptions. Not all white patches on skin are symptoms of vitiligo. People shy away from sitting around these people. But Dr Dhar pointed out that this is just another disease like sugar issues and people should not shy away from mixing with these people.

Dr Dhar also pointed out that psoriasis is another disease which has given rise to many misconceptions. This is an un-infectious disease which can be controlled with proper treatment.

With the help of proper awareness, many myths about skin diseases can be busted and people should opt for timely treatments to get themselves treated.
