Of WB), Rizwan-ur Rahman (President and Head of Delegation, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce & Industry), Pradeep Sureka (President, Indian Chamber of Commerce), Andalib Elias (Bangladesh Deputy High Commissioner) was present at a seminar on Exploring Trade and Investment Opportunities between Bangladesh and India.
The interactive session was hosted by the Indian Chamber of Commerce.
Deputy High Commissioner of Bangladesh Mr. Andalib Elias said “This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for two neighboring countries to take trade and investment to new heights that will be historic. A proper discussion could help us overcome the obstacles that stand in our way of achieving our goal”.
The President and Head of Delegation of the Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Mr. Rizwan-ur Rahman, said, “In FY 21-22, the two countries exchanged nearly $9.9 billion in dollars. However, given the bilateral relationship between India and Bangladesh, it has the potential to reach $10 billion. Bangladesh’s second-largest trading partner is Bengal, which accounts for nearly 54 percent of all foreign medical visitors in India. Both countries are constantly putting their institutional framework for a long-term partnership to the test.”
Mr. Pradeep Sureka, President of the ICC, added, “The economic, historical, and cultural ties that India and Bangladesh shared are indescribable. Both countries have made efforts to improve their bilateral relations. In a real sense, West Bengal is the link between Bangladesh and India.”
