Barun Chanda’s Book “Satyajit Ray: The Man Who Knew Too Much” Released
Starmark organized the launch of eminent actor and writer Barun Chanda’s book—‘Satyajit Ray: The Man Who Knew Too Much’. The book has been published by Om Books International. The book was published in front of a select group of people by renowned filmmaker Srijit Mukherji.
Celebrated director Satyajit Ray’s most well-known film is his scathing critique of the corporate rat race, Seemabaddha (1971). Barun Chanda, who made his acting debut in it, received special recognition for his work. Barun Chanda, who worked on the movie and was directed by Satyajit Ray, whom he refers to as “the man who knew too much,” now documents his experience fifty years later. The Man Who Knew Too Much by Satyajit Ray, however, is more than just a documentary about the making of a movie.
The author also provides a thorough and educational analysis of Ray’s various filmmaking personas, including his script and dialogue sense, his intuitive understanding of musical nuance, his propensity for casting non-actors, and his talent for finding the ideal face for a role, and his brilliance in creating title sequences.
The launch was followed by a discussion on the book and on Satyajit Ray, moderated by Avik Chanda. The author, along with Srijit Mukherji and Shantanu Ray Chaudhuri, took part in this discussion. Also present on this occasion were Dhritiman Chatterjee and Siddhartha Chatterjee, both of whom were featured in Satyajit Ray’s films.
