The official teaser for Hoichoi’s upcoming original series, Batashey Gungun, has been released.

The series, which was creatively directed by Aditi Roy and directed by Arijeet Toton Chakrabarty, delves into the eerie realm of dark romance and obsession drama, where love feeds the fire it was intended to put out. The teaser gives us a scalding look into this world in just over a minute, with Manali Manisha Dey as Mithila standing on the brink of something she hasn’t yet named, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay as Arindam burdened by helplessness, and Srijla Guha as Pallabi with a look that shouts obsession and rage. Three characters, each enmeshed in their emotional turmoil, clash in a tension that only gets tighter rather than ever breaking.

Unpredictable, urgent, and impossible to ignore, the performances take place in flashes. Srijla looks nearly unrecognizable, representing a woman whose desire is so intense that it could sever everything in its path. How far will Arindam go to protect Mithila, the only love he knows, and what has Pallabi done to shatter his carefully guarded world? The answers are still just out of reach as the boundaries between obsession and survival become more hazy. Like a storm that hasn’t yet passed, the tension lingers.

“I was shaken by this character. Pallabi is a woman tormented by her desires and her losses; she is neither a villain nor a victim. She is obsessed with the idea of being loved indefinitely, not just by a man. Playing it was both beautiful and terrifying,” said Srijla Guha.

Actor Suhotra Mukhopadhyay said, “Batashey Gungun is a very unusual love story — stripped of all comfort. It’s unnerving, complex, and raw. While everything around him is collapsing, Arindam is attempting to act morally”.

“Mithila is a woman who perceives danger long before it fully manifests itself. The emotional disorder that is developing around her is anchored by her quiet yet unwavering strength,” said Manali.

A haunting, reimagined rendition of the classic song “Batashey Gungun”—now devoid of nostalgia and woven into the soundscape with a completely different mood—underlines this emotional spiral. Ambiguous, atmospheric, and subtly disarming, the melody drifts in like a ghost from the past. It intensifies the mystery, intensifies the desire, and changes our perception of the song so that it is no longer romantic but rather a melancholic echo.

It will release on 20th June on Hoichoi.
