Bengal Mango Utsav 2022 Inaugurated; New And Exotic Varieties Of Mangoes Available

The Department of Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, Government of West Bengal in collaboration with the Indian Chamber of Commerce announced Bengal Mango Utsav 2022.

The mango festival was organized exclusively for showcasing the potential of Indian Mango and Mango products, following the great success of many Bengal Mango Utsav editions since 2012.

The aim was to promote the Bengal Mango and Mango products. This event aims to promote market connections, investigate export opportunities for both fresh and processed mango products, guarantee better prices for the growers, and put quality standards into place.

The inaugural session of Bengal Mango Utsav 2022 was graced by the Mayor of Kolkata, Firhad Hakim,  Mr. Subrata Saha Hon’ble Minister for Food Processing Industries & Horticulture, Government of West Bengal, Dr. Subrata Gupta Additional ChiefSecretary, Department of Food Processing Industries and Horticulture, Government of West Bengal, Sovandeb Chattopadhyay, Minister for Power & Non-Conventional Energy, Government of West Bengal and Dr. Rajeev Singh, Director General of Indian Chamber of Commerce.

During the inauguration, the Mayor of Kolkata Firhad Hakim, said: “We are attempting to popularise newer and exotic varieties of Bengal Mango and its various processed products through this festival. West Bengal government has taken the initiative to assist farmers, be they in Malda or anywhere else in the States, to aid in the commercial cultivation of Mango. Our goal is to expand this festival internationally in order to introduce consumers to various exotic varieties of Bengal Mango and provide them with the chance to purchase various varieties of high-quality mangoes at affordable prices.”

The Indian Chamber of Commerce’s Director-General, Dr. Rajeev Singh, stated: “The West Bengal Bengal Government’s invitation to partner with the Indian Chamber of Commerce for the Mango Utsav 2022 is a great honor. We are all working hard to put this platform into place so that farmers can communicate with buyers. By establishing connections between growers and retailers, this platform will aid in the exploration of commercial opportunities throughout the supply chain.”

Some of the varieties of mangoes available at the mango festival are Langra, Mallika, Amrapali, Lucknow, Gopal Bhog, Mulayamjam, Kohinoor, Rani Pasand, Fajli, Nawabi Kohitoor, Motichur, Golapkhas, Banana King, Rakhal Bhog and many more.

Sweets, drinks, and various other food items made from mangoes are also available at this mango festival.

This will be held from June 23–25, 2022 at Netaji Indoor Stadium, Kolkata.
