Bengali Horror Anthology Bhutopurbo’s Poster Out Now

The official poster of the upcoming Bengali horror anthology Bhutopurbo was unveiled in the presence of the director duo Kakoli Ghosh and Avinab Mukherjee, Amrita Chattopadhyay, Sandipta Sen, Satyam Bhattacharya, Saptarshi Maulik, Suhotra Mukhopadhyay, singer Timir Biswas, and many others.
Bhutopurbo has three horror tales linked to each other. The stories are Monimalika by Rabindranath Tagore, Taranath Tantrik by Bibhutibhushan Bandopadhyay, and Shikar by Manoj Sen.
The director duo said that the film is not a simple horror film. It is also a homage to the rich lineage of amazing Bengali ghost stories. They have not tampered with the story but have tried to showcase the story in a new light.

Satyam Bhattacharya will be seen as Phanibhushan, and Amrita Chattopadhyay will be seen as Monimalika in Monihara.
Satyam Bhattacharya praised the director duo for their clear vision. The technical team of the film was also appreciated by the actor. This is also the first time that Satyam will be playing a character written by Rabindranath Tagore.
Amrita Chatterjee said that the stories are popular and well-liked by the people. “What makes it challenging is that it is known to all, and we have to present it in a way to impress the audience. I believe that due to the difference in the director’s vision, the presentation is different. The story’s backdrop has not been changed. The director was particular about our looks and how we would enact the roles,” said the actress.
Rupanjana Maitra will be seen as Matu Pagli and Saptarshi Maulik will be seen as Taranath Tantrik.

Saptarshi Maulik said, “When I was a kid, I read the stories as a reader. I had never thought that I would be able to play such roles in the future. When I heard that I would be able to play the role of Taranath, I was overjoyed. Not much has been shown to date about Taranath before he became a Tantrik. That made me interested in the film. The director duo had a clear vision of what they wanted, and hence, portraying the character was easy”.
In the story of Shikar, Sandipta Sen will be seen as Tilottama, and Suhotro Mukhopadhyay will be seen as Purnendu.
Sandipta Sen revealed that she is not afraid of ghosts. Rather, she wanted to see a ghost. She thinks that maybe the ghost will run away after seeing her. “We have a rich collection of horror stories. If they are made into films, we will be able to give the audience amazing horror films,” said the actress.
Suhotra said that acting in films is a collaborative ar,t and getting good co-actors is an added advantage. He praised his co-actors for their amazing acting, and that helped him to improve his work.
The film is produced by Indoshree Production.
Bhutopurbo is slated for release in June.
