Somnos Sleep Clinic, Kolkata in association with Orange Sleep Apnea Clinic and World Sleep Society organized a press conference to highlight on different aspects of sleep and how it affects the human body.

The press conference was attended by Dr Sourav Das, Dr Uttam Agarwal and Dr Haseeb Hassan.

World Sleep Day 2020’s slogan is Better Sleep, Better Life, Better Planet.

Speaking at the press conference, Dr Sourav Das said that without good sleep your health will be affected and which in turn will affect your life. It is important for one to maintain a regular sleeping time and awakening time. Using comfortable bedding, avoiding caffeine and heavy, spicy food before going to sleep, keeping the room temperature comfortable, taking care of noise and light are some other ways by which one can ensure that they can sleep well.

Dr Agarwal mentioned that there are close to one hundred sleep disorders known to mankind and most of them are treatable and preventable. The most common among them are insomnia, obstructive sleep apnea and restless leg syndrome.

Without sound sleep, the body will not be able to heal and repair itself and the individual will wake up the next day feeling tired.

Hence it is very important for individuals to keep track of their sleeping patterns and consult a doctor if they have issues with their sleeping patterns.
