Bhoomi Namaskar Campaign- Sole Focus On Ecosystem Restoration
In a significant step towards raising awareness about environmental protection, actor, activist, and climate warrior Bhumi Pednekar has launched the Bhamla Foundation’s “Bhoomi Namaskar” campaign for World Environment Day.
This campaign, which is in line with the UN resolution of the year “Generation Restoration”, was started by the Bhamla Foundation with support from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC), and Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The campaign’s main goal is to emphasize the significance of ecosystem restoration in the fight against climate change and its negative effects.
Bhumi Pednekar is a committed Climate Warrior who has led the way in many environmental campaigns. Bhumi has used her platforms to promote a variety of causes, including trash segregation, rainwater harvesting, recycling, upcycling, mindful fashion choices, and many more, through her non-profit advocacy platform Climate Warrior and The Bhumi Foundation. The actor encouraged her followers to join her in planting hundreds of trees on the outskirts of Mumbai on World Environment Day last year.
“I am honored to have collaborated with the Bhamla Foundation this year for their Bhoomi Namaskar campaign for World Environment Day. The foundation has accomplished a great deal over the years, and environmental enthusiasts like myself find great inspiration in their partnerships with organizations such as the UNEP, the Ministry of Environment, Forests, and Climate Change, and the BMC” said Bhumi Bhumi speaking about being a part of the Bhoomi Namaskar campaign.
She went on to elaborate on the initiative, and said, “We must unite to take action as our planet faces unprecedented challenges. There is no planet B; this world is our only home. It was this realization that inspired me to set out on a journey filled with compassion, love, and understanding for our planet and environment many years ago. As we approach this World Environment Day, I implore everyone to try to live a sustainable lifestyle, be mindful of resource consumption, and have empathy for the planet and all the species we share it with. We also need to realize that every small action will have an impact on our climate”.
The World Economic Forum has named Bhumi Pednekar a Young Global Leader for the Class of 2024 in recognition of her outstanding efforts to combat climate change through her non-profit organizations, Climate Warrior & The Bhumi Foundation, and her large-scale sustainable business endeavors. She is also the first Indian Goodwill Ambassador for the SDGs for UNDP India.
