“I am honored to receive the Disruptor of the Year award at IFFM. As someone who has never traveled the trodden path, I find this acknowledgment to be quite encouraging. This honor also serves as a tremendous source of validation for me since it demonstrates the effectiveness of perseverance in overcoming obstacles and challenging the status quo. I’m happy with every project I’ve worked on so far, but Badhaai Do stand out because it gave me the opportunity to express my support for the LGBTQIA+ community in India” said Bhumi.
The IFFM Disruptor of the Year Award honors those who best represent the spirit of breaking down barriers and pushing the envelope in the film business. Bhumi Pednekar’s career in the entertainment industry has been nothing short of extraordinary, and it has been shaped by her steadfast dedication to casting roles that not only speak to audiences but also spark discussions about pressing societal issues.
“As a disruptor, I have always tried to redefine possibilities, bust stereotypes, and create new avenues for change through inclusivity. This honor is an homage to all the intrepid spirits who dare to dream differently and work to have a positive impact on the world, not just a celebration of my path” said Bhumi.
