Australian/Indian actor Kaushik Das has strengthened the bonds between India and Australia with the help of his movie ReFraction. The film is a bilingual (English/Bengali) short film exploring the shared ancestry between Indians and Australian Aboriginals.

The film was screened at 24th Kolkata International Film Festival. A press meet was organized in the presence of Kaushik Das to highlight different aspects of the film.

The film was an official selection in this year’s film festival. The film narrates the story of an indigenous Australian man who finds himself in a life threatening situation with an asylum seeker from Bangladesh.

The film is Kaushik’s dedication to his mother. Mirko Grillini developed the story written by Kaushik Das. “I went to meet one of the most ancient tribes in Australia, the Quandamooka people, who are the traditional owners of North Stradbroke Island. I told them that I was making the film for my mother. So they also said that they will co-operate with me as they will be also dedicating it to their mother” said Kaushik Das.

Kaushik has acted in Salt Bridge, a crossover film featuring Rajeev Khandelwal and Usha Jadhav. The songs of the film were shortlisted for Oscar nominations.

ReFraction has also been making its presence felt in the festival circuit. The film has gone to festivals like the New York Indian Film Festival, Dhaka International Film Festival and the All Lights India International Film Festival.

Kaushik Das production company, Anjana Productions has also a number of projects lined up for 2019.
