Kheyali Dastidar will be presenting modern Bengali play Pratyasha which was written by Chandra Dastidar. The play was staged before too and this will be a presentation of the play with a rewritten script that has been done by Kheyali Dastidar.

A press conference to announce this was organized which was attended by Kheyali Dastidar, Sabyasachi Chakraborty, Rahul Dev Bose, Anusha Vishwanathan, Bratati Bandopadhyay and others.

The story is about a single mother, a lonely daughter, an estranged husband, an ambitious son. The play was written in 1989 and staged in the early 90s. According to Kheyali Dastidar, the play was ahead of its times but it is still relevant in today’s times too. It is a glowing tribute to womanhood.

The story of the rewritten script is spread across San Francisco, Kolkata and Shantiniketan.

Gameplan Sports Pvt Ltd who had earlier managed sports events will be making its foray into theatre production with Pratyasha.

Sabyasachi Chakraborty who had earlier played Suman in the play was excited to again act in the play. He shared a trivia that he and Kheyali Dastidar had played brother and sister in the earlier enactment and was again playing brother-sister duo in this performance too.

Rahul Dev Bose was scared and equally thrilled to be playing the role that Sabyasachi Chakraborty had earlier played the role that he will be playing now. This will mark the return of the actor to stage after some years.

With this play, Lopamudra Mitra will be making her debut as a music director.

The play will mark the debut of Bratati Bandopadhyay on stage for the first time as a theatre actor. “When you involve yourself in any art form, you need to give full attention and dedication. I was initially told that I will need a few days of rehearsal. However it took more than that. It was something new and I have given it my hundred percent effort” said Bratati Bandopadhyay.

The play will be staged at G. D. Birla Sabhagar on 23rd November and 13th December at 7 pm.
