BV Doshi Memorial Exhibition- Excellent Tribute To BV Doshi
Harshavardhan Neotia, Chairman of Ambuja Neotia, and architects Neelkanth Chhaya, and Sohan Nilkanth inaugurated the BV Doshi Memorial Exhibition at Kalavaani, Swabhumi.
Regarded as a trailblazer of Indian modernism, Shri Doshi’s remarkable career lasted almost 70 years, during which he accomplished more than 100 innovative projects, such as inexpensive housing, schools, libraries, and art centers. His impact on Kolkata is most noticeable in Udayan, the city’s first condo villa built by Ambuja Neotia in collaboration with the government. HUDCO named Udayan a Model Housing Project, and it broke social housing records.
Doshi’s leadership and forward-thinking concepts have had a significant influence on Ambuja Neotia’s design ethos and initiatives. The BV Doshi Memorial Exhibition honors his lasting influence by showcasing works by architects who were either closely linked with him or greatly affected by him, and who have found great inspiration in his human-centered approach to building.
The first exhibition features the work of prominent Ahmedabadi architects Neelkanth Chhaya, Sohan Nilkanth, and Kallol Joshi from Mandala Design Services, whose careers have been greatly impacted by the teachings of Shri Doshi. Doshi’s architectural ethos was centered around intelligent design and sustainability, which are values that are embodied in their work.
This two-week-long exhibition will run till September 15th.
It is open from 4 pm to 8 pm on weekdays and 12 noon to 8 pm on weekends.
This exhibition stands as a tribute to the extraordinary legacy of Balkrishna Vithaldas Doshi, a visionary architect, urban planner, and educator.
