The traditional Christmas cake, which is claimed to be a long-standing ceremonial custom that stretches back to Biblical times and was historically honored in formal family gatherings, makes Christmas incomplete. The JW Marriott Kolkata conducted its yearly routine on November 19th, hosting a magnificent event where the hotel celebrated the customary cake-mixing ceremony with city enthusiasts, devoted customers, in-house members, and colleagues as a single unit.

The traditional cake-mixing festival starts a month before Christmas and is seen as a sign of joy and festivity. The zeal and energy used to blend the various components usher in the holiday spirit even before the cake is prepared. During this period, a variety of fruits and nuts are gathered and combined to make a delicious and traditional plum cake. Prior to baking, all ingredients—including spirits, dried fruits, cherries, dates, and spices—are completely incorporated and aged in spirits like brandy, rum, and wine.

In order to tackle the colorful heaps of dry fruits, nuts, and other concoctions to ring in the merry, cheerful Christmas season, the connoisseurs and well-known figures of the city donned aprons, caps, and gloves that evening.
