Cake baking is one of the most anticipated traditions that ushers in the holiday spirit. Every year, the ibis Kolkata has participated in the cake-mixing ritual while upholding the same standards for the Christmas cake’s flavor and the opulence of its ingredients.

The ceremony this year was graced by Sayantani Guhathakurta – Actress, Mr. Ram Jaiswal – Honorary consul of Maldives, Mr. Amos Rai – Sikkim state cricket team coach, Mr. Indranil Mukherjee – Fashion Designer, Zara Chishty Abedin – the owner of The Little Bistro, Shalini S Biswas – director of EasyNote Stationary Pvt. Ltd.

The custom of mixing cake traditionally denoted the beginning of the harvest season. For the traditional Christmas fruitcake, a significant amount of fruits and nuts were once collected. In the hopes that it would usher in yet another wealthy year, they would set away the component mixture for the future year. The festive holiday season is only one aspect of the cake-mixing event.

The ibis Kolkata Rajarhat’s General Manager, Ajit Jose, said, “The cake mixing is a Christmas ritual that dates back to the 17th century and was initially a private family affair. After the harvest, the family would get together to celebrate and share the joy of the forthcoming Christmas and New Year seasons. Every family member would participate in this special tradition of making the holiday fruitcake. These gatherings served as emblems of cooperation, perseverance, and fraternity. With this team-building exercise, the Heartist’s at the ibis Kolkata Rajarhat kick off the holiday season”.
