The premiere of the Bengali film Ei Ami Renu took place recently. Gracing the occasion was the cast and crew of the film.

The film is based on the novel “Ei Ami Renu” written by renowned Bengali writer Samaresh Mazumdar.

The story is set in the ’80s and the backdrop is of old Kolkata. The story is about four friends. Sumit is an introvert who came from a village to study at Calcutta University and stays in a mess. The central character Renu is from a middle-class conservative family from North Kolkata. Ashok is straightforward and Jhuma is very outgoing and belongs to a modern family. They are best friends. Sumit and Renu fall in love. Renu keeps telling Sumit that she is ‘of improper character’, but his passion for her negates all his doubts. Their marriage is on the cards, but on the registry date, the bride fails to appear. Sumit discovers that she has married Barun under family pressure. Ashok too deserts Jhuma, and the latter’s pain finds resonance in Sumit’s heartbreak.

Directed by Saumen Sur, the film is produced by Aangsh Movies and presented by Selin and Swarno.

The cast of the film consists of Soham Chakraborty, Sohini Sarkar, Kaushik Ganguly, Gaurav Chakrabarty, Alivia Sarkar, Anindya Chatterjee.

The music and lyrics are by Rana Mazumder. Arijit Singh, Shreya Ghoshal, Monali Thakur, Ash King have lent their voices to the songs in the film.

The DOP of the film is Gopi Bhagat.

The film is running on different single screens and multiplexes in the city.
