Dr. Madan Mohan Reddy, Senior Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Robotic Knee Replacement Surgeon at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai graced the press conference to speak about Ceramic Total Knee Replacement.

Total Knee Replacement has been the most preferred surgical solution for those patients suffering from end-stage knee arthritis. However, in many cases, it has produced unsatisfactory results in patients as well. Using metal implants in conventional knee replacement surgery leads to allergic reactions, loosening of the implants and even causing infections. As a result, revision surgery needs to be done.

However, to counter these problems, Ceramic Total Knee Replacement has been introduced. Ceramic implants offer fewer wear and tear problems, have higher resistance to scratching, are less likely to cause any reactions and have a longer life of about 45 to 50 years.

Patients aged 40 to 85 years can avail of this treatment, and get back their mobility and reduce pain.

This treatment is available at Apollo Hospitals, Chennai, and is available as a package. It will cost about Rs 3, 80, 000.
