Chalachhitre Rabindranath- Tagore Songs in Bengali Films Sung by 225 Professional Singers
APPS (ASSOCIATION OF PROFESSIONAL PERFORMING SINGERS, WB) organized a grand musical event titled Chalachhitre Rabindranath at Mahajati Sadan.
The songs of Rabindranath Tagore have been used in many Bengali films since times immemorial. The event saw 225 professional singers sing different songs of Tagore at the event.
One of the biggest highlights as pointed out by Saikat Mitra was the fact that the singers will be singing the songs in such a way so that it lip syncs with the actors who sang the songs on screen.
Some of the songs that were performed at the event was Aguner Poroshmoni (Latthi), Ami Chini Go Chini (Charulata), Bhalobashi Bhalobashi (Shet Patharer Thala), Ami Pothbhola Ek Pothik (Mon Niye), Sraboner Dharar Moton (Alo) and so on.
“Bengalis cannot stay without Rabindranath Tagore. We need him to express love, despair and many other emotions. This is a great initiative by APPS as so many professional singers will be lending their voices to the songs” said Jojo.
Usha Uthup, Haimanti Sukla, Swagatalakhi Dasgupta, Indrani Sen, Srabani Sen, Jayati Chakraborty, Saikat Mitra, Manomay Bhattacharya, Sriradha Banerjee, Antara Chowdhury, Rupankar, Surajit Chattopadhyay, Sidhu, Jojo, Pata and others performed at the event.
These songs were supported by vocal harmony by the members of APPS, who are popular professional singers of West Bengal.
