The year 2022 is of particular significance for the Bengalis. This year marks the 125th birth anniversary of freedom fighter Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and also marks the hundred years of the publication of Kazi Nazrul Islam’s (National poet of Bangladesh) phenomenal poetry ‘Bidrohi’.

To commemorate these two significant events, Kolkata-based cultural organization Chhayanat (Kolkata) has published a calendar that sheds light on the extraordinary bond shared by Netaji and Nazrul. They both believed in a sort of similar definition of nationalism and patriotism, and therefore, Netaji found Nazrul’s patriotic songs and poetry incredibly moving.

On many occasions, he admired Nazrul’s fearless and defiant approach towards the oppressors and tyrants. Nazrul, the Rebel Poet, was jailed for allegedly offending the British Government with many of his poems and songs. And Netaji believed that the poet’s lived experience had made his words so compelling.

The calendar has been designed and created by Swagato Gangopadhyay .

Several authors have documented Netaji’s praises for Nazrul and their meetings in public events. This calendar is a compilation of quotations from those writings. Somerita Mallik, the President of Chhayanat (Kolkata), has collected the text. This humble tribute is presented by Chhayanat (Kolkata) and published by Questz World.

The calendar, therefore, is a collectible to all the admirers of Kazi Nazrul Islam. Interested people may contact Team Chhayanat (Kolkata) on WhatsApp on +91 98362 39032.
