Chinese Consul General in Kolkata Mr. Zha Liyou attended the 6th Year Panihati Book and Little Magazine Fair.

It was organized by International Mother Language Celebration Committee in Panihati.

General Secretary of the Association Mr. Koushik Pal, President of the Program Mr. Dulal Chakraborty, Assistant Professor of Chinese Language Dr. Anirban Ghosh, Bengali singers Mr. Pratul Mukhopadhaya, Mr. Dyutiman Bannerji, Mr. Anil Acharya, teachers and students from local schools and more than 200 people attended the event.

Consul General Mr. Zha Liyou expressed his gratitude for the invitation to the commemoration of International Mother Language Day once more.  He said that every nation’s citizens should be proud of their native tongue and actively utilize, preserve, and pass on that language to future generations. At the same time, one should actively pursue learning foreign languages so that they may better comprehend other cultures and facilitate communication between them and their own.

The committee’s idea to conduct a photo exhibition with a Chinese theme this year was aggressively taken up by the Chinese Consulate General, who chose 60 images to highlight China’s remarkable development achievements in the past ten years of the new era and the transformation of Tibet in China.

The attendees gave an overview of the background and significance of International Mother Language Day, urged practical measures to safeguard the survival of their own languages and cultures, thanked the Chinese Consulate General for the steadfast support, and expressed their eagerness to actively engage in exchanges with China.

Footballs were given to neighborhood clubs and schools by Chinese Consul General Mr. Zha Liyou and other visitors during their visit to the picture exhibit with a Chinese theme.
