Chiradip Sarkar’s Yaadein Is A Love Ballad With Undertones Of Grief
Son of a well-known musician, Chiradip Sarkar was introduced to music at a young age by his father and first teacher, Late Pandit Chandi Das Sarkar, using the tabla’s “Taalim”. Pandit Tarun Bhattacharyya, guided, navigated, and steered through every challenge on the musical journey that started with him following in his father’s footsteps and ended with him emerging as a seasoned Santoor musician.
Chiradip harbored a dear dream to explore the worlds of music direction, composition, and music arrangements in order to give life to a poetic piece of his own, inspired by the works of his mentor, the musical genius Pandit Tarun Bhattacharyya. Chiradip decided to embark on an expedition to write a full song of his own composition, lyrics, and arrangements after touring the world as a santoor player and hearing a vast array of musical compositions. This was nothing short of an entirely new experience for Chiradip.
With the voice of the incredibly talented singer Jamuna Kumari Damai, his lyrics and touching melody with a tone of melancholy have come to life. Although both of them continue to work full-time jobs, their practice of music is taken so seriously that it gives them a reason to wake up every morning.
Yaadein is a real love ballad with undertones of tragedy, grief, and melancholy. In addition to using classical instruments including the flute, santoor, violin, and tabla, Chiradip created the music arrangement from scratch. The group of stars performing on this song includes Soumyajyoti Ghosh on flute, Indradeep Ghosh on violin, Tuhin Karmakar on tabla, Avik Ganguly on piano and programming, Avik Ganguly and Chiradip himself for arrangements, Chiradip himself playing the santoor. Sanjoy Ghosh from Studio Resonance in Kolkata handled the song’s sound mixing and mastering.
The song was recently released in front of Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya and renowned composers Joy Sarkar and Debojyoti Mishra.
