The book Prosongo Chiranjeet edited by Amit Sankar Das and Chandranath Chattopadhyay was released in the august presence of eminent dignitaries like Minister Sujit Bose, Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Minister Rathin Ghosh, Gautam Ghose, Minister Sobhandeb Chattopadhyay, and many more distinguished guests.

The book throws light on the multi-faceted personality of Chiranjeet Chakraborty. He is not only an eminent Bengali actor but also a film director, poet, and also politician.

He made his acting debut with the film Sonay Sohaga in 1981. He has also worked for the famous Desh magazine and also as a newsreader for television.

The book has write-ups on the actor by eminent personalities like Prosenjit Chatterjee, Rituparna Sengupta, Raja Sen, Rajatava Dutta, Samir Aich, and many others.

Speaking at the event, Chiranjeet Chakraborty said “I do not think that I have done much in my life to get a book released in my name. I have not won a National Award and neither have I achieved much. I was a little skeptical initially and I rejected the offer from different publishers. However this time, I was convinced somehow and hence this book came out”.

The actor also added how he changed his name from Dipak to Chiranjeet and how Chiranjeet is much more popular and saleable than Dipak, his original name. “I had asked Rituparno Ghosh once to introduce Dipak Chakraborty as a newcomer in one of his films. He said that the role I did was suitable for Dipak. However, Chiranjeet was saleable and hence he could not do that. The same thing happened with Srijit for one of his films. This is the reason why Dipak tries to make a name through poetry and other forms” said Chiranjeet.

Gautam Ghose praised Chiranjeet for his many skills as an individual. He also mentioned how he had worked with the actor in one film.

The book is priced at Rs 350.
