Chitra Bharati Kolkata Short Film Festival 2018-19 will be organized on 16th February from 11 am to 7 pm. The short film festival will be organized at Ashutosh Birth Centenary Hall. A press meet was organized to announce this feat and this was graced by eminent actor Victor Banerjee and others.
The short film festival is organized by Paramparaa, a registered Charitable Trust based in West Bengal.
Victor Banerjee is the President of the festival committee. The jury members of the festival consist of Abhijit Dasgupta, Dean of EDM Dept, SRFTI, Adinath Das, Ex-Dean of SRFTI, Gautam Bose, documentary film maker and Rathin Banerjee, member of censor board.
Speaking at the press conference, Victor Banerjee said “The main aim of the festival is to provide a platform and to reach out to young talented individuals. With the help of this festival, we want to promote the cultural heritage of India and not fall prey to cultural imperialism. Just because USA has a strong presence all over the world, it does not mean we have to follow them in everything. We have a strong cultural heritage which one should not ignore”.
The response this year has been overwhelming with over 100 entries. Out of these entries, 22 have been selected by the jury panel.
The film criterion is divided into two sections. One is East and North-East and Rest of India. There are also two categories namely professional and students and two genres- fiction and non-fiction.
On 16th February, in one session fiction films will be shown and the other session will screen non-fiction docu-drama.
