“Cholo Dourai” Embodies The Great Spirit Of The 10th JBG Kolkata Marathon

At a private launch party held at The Lalit Great Eastern in Kolkata, Sportiz announced the 10th edition of the JBG Kolkata Marathon. All categories are currently accepting registrations. After ten years of perseverance, solidarity, and camaraderie, what started out as a small trail run has grown into one of Kolkata’s most prestigious running festivals. The 2025 edition, which embodies the spirit of “Cholo Dourai”, moves to Red Road in Maidan for the first time, providing runners with an elite running experience against the most recognizable background in the city.
The launch event witnessed the presence of distinguished dignitaries like Mr. Aditya Jajodia, MD & Chairman, Jai Balaji Group, Mr. Devendra Jhajharia, President, Paralympic Committee of India, Mr. Rahul Swami, CEO, PCI, Mr. Kusum Kumar Dwivedi, Honorary General Secretary, Kolkata Police Athletic Club & Chief Mentor, JBG Kolkata Marathon and Dr. Sujay Deb Barman, COO, IRIS Multispeciality Hospital & Medical Director, JBG Kolkata Marathon.
Several celebrated para-athletes were also honored at the occasion, namely Rudransh Khandelwal – Paris Paralympian, Asian Para Games Double Silver Medallist, 4x World Record Holder, Suchitra Parida – International Medallist & National Record Holder, Women’s T-55 Javelin, Shreyansh Trivedi – Asian Para Games Medallist & National Record Holder, Rakesh Bhatt – Asian Para Games participant, International Grand Prix Medallist and Mariyappan Thangavelu – 3-time Paralympic Medallist (High Jump).
The event’s brand ambassadors will remain fitness legend Milind Soman and his spouse, Ankita Konwar. Numerous residents have been continuously inspired to adopt fitness as a way of life by their presence. They have been instrumental over the years in promoting physical activity in the community and enhancing wellness.
The marathon’s humanitarian goal is to generate money for the Indian Para Athletes who will represent their country in the World Para Athletics Championships in New Delhi from September 27 to October 5, 2025. Kolkata will run on November 30th for its paraathletes as well as for health and celebration.
In addition to the well-liked Elite 10K, Open 10K, 5K Cosplay Run, and Special Heroes categories, the JBG Kolkata Marathon 2025 adds the 21.1K Half Marathon to celebrate its milestone edition. This edition, which is proudly title-sponsored by the Jai Balaji Group and coordinated by Sportiz, is anticipated to draw over 15,000 participants, making it the largest to date.

- Elite 10K – Invitation/qualification-based professional race
- Half Marathon (21.1K) – Open category for runners aged 18+
- Open 10K – Timed race for amateur runners aged 13+
- 5K – Feels Like Joy Run (JBG Endura 101) – Non-timed, fun run for 13+
- Special Heroes 3K – Non-timed event for individuals with disabilities (with companion support)
- Cosplay Run – Fun run with participants dressed as their favorite characters
