CII Aligns With States’ Economic And Social Development Vision

The CII West Bengal State Council presented a comprehensive agenda that included a wide range of projects, objectives, and initiatives aimed at promoting long-term economic growth and development in the state.
Mr Rupak Barua, Vice Chairman, West Bengal State Council and MD & CEO of Woodlands Hospital, Mr Debashis Dutta, Chairman, CII West Bengal State Council and Director, BGS Group, and Mr Dipankar Bhattacharjee, State Head, CII West Bengal State Office, graced the event.
Mr Debashis Dutta stated that the CII West Bengal compliments and congratulates the State Government on its initiatives, as well as its proactive measures in economic development, infrastructure improvement, and social welfare. Mr Dutta emphasised the successful completion of the State’s investor summit, BGBS, as well as the implementation of policies that will benefit the state’s industrial parks and economic corridors. The CII applauds the government’s initiative of establishing a single window synergy portal to boost investor confidence in the state.
He praised Hon’ble Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s various social upliftment programs, such as Swasthya Sathi, Lakshmir Bhandar, Kanyashree, Duare Sarkar, and others, which have helped women achieve educational and financial independence while also addressing healthcare issues at the grassroots level. CII has submitted a comprehensive vision report that highlights the state’s existing and potential opportunities, as well as the initiatives required to fully realise them.
Mr Dutta emphasised that, as the country’s second-largest MSME hub, the CII will collaborate closely with the government to strengthen the MSME ecosystem by connecting them with large-scale industries and establishing business ties. An effort will be made to connect MSMEs with CII’s centres of excellence, broadening the scope of their business ventures and raising awareness of the GeM and TReDs portals. CII has proposed a cluster-based approach to enhancing capacity development and market linkages in the leather, textile, gems and jewellery, and engineering industries. In addition, a district development plan for North Bengal has been proposed to support regional growth.
Furthermore, the council announced many initiatives aimed at addressing specific needs and challenges in the state. These projects included diverse areas such as agriculture and food processing, tourism and hospitality, manufacturing and MSME, healthcare, and infrastructure, with a primary focus. Logistics and defence, the state’s sunshine sectors, would also be our primary focus. This year, the Council will collaborate with the logistics, defence, textiles, leather, gems and jewellery, and foundry associations to improve their deliberations. The Council, in close collaboration with the West Bengal government, aims to stimulate growth and attract investment in strategic sectors.
By aligning these projects and objectives with its overarching vision, the CII West Bengal State Council hopes to create an ecosystem that promotes innovation, inclusivity, and resilience, establishing West Bengal as a globally competitive hub. The council is well-positioned to drive meaningful change and realise the region’s full economic and social potential through collective action and strategic partnerships.
