“Cinema Is Magic. I Want To Be A Part Of It Forever”-Aditi Rao Hydari
Eminent actress Aditi Rao Hydari was in Kolkata to attend the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival.
“It is always a pleasure to attend such a prestigious film festival. From childhood, there has been a Bengali connection in my life. Even now, the cook in my house is a Bengali. So I have grown up gorging on yummy Bengali food like Shukto and others” said the actress.
The actress loved the fact that Bengali culture is rooted in tradition. She found this beautiful.
“I once got an offer to work in a Bengali film. It was directed by Arindam Sil. But due to date issues, I could not work on the film. I hope that in the future I can work in a Bengali film. I have done work in so many other languages and this is the only language that I have not worked in till now” said the actress with a smile.
The actress said that he comes from a mixed lineage. “I do feel like a child of India. I feel comfortable in every city I go to. Yes, I have a few favorites. I feel lucky to be a part of Indian cinema. There are so many stories that can be told in different languages. Language has never been a barrier for me. It is the character that is important and how that makes one feel” said Aditi.
Speaking about her Cannes experience, she said “It is always a huge honor to be a part of such an amazing festival and get to meet artists whose works you have seen so many times. It opens up your horizons”.
When asked about misogyny in recent films, Aditi said “Every director can make the film of their choice. As an actor, I will not judge a character as that character is different from me. However, as an actor, I do have a responsibility as films are watched by a lot of people. Hence it is a fine line that separates them”.
Aditi worked with Prosenjit Chatterjee in Jubilee. Speaking about her experiences, she said “He is an amazing person. Even after doing such a huge number of films, he is still passionate about films and wants to create new characters. Our AC on the sets was not working properly once and I asked the technicians to get those repaired. But I saw him sitting calmly on the sets and he did not even complain about the heat”.
The actress ended the press conference by stating that cinema is magic and she wanted to be a part of that magic throughout her life.
