The third edition of West Bengal Film Journalists’ Association Award 2018 titled Cinemar Samabartan was announced in the presence of Prosenjit Chatterjee, Shoma A Chatterji, Chiranjeet Chakraborty, Haranath Chakraborty, Nirmal Dhar, Secretary, WBFJA and others.

The nominations of the 3^rd edition were unveiled by the esteemed personalities.

There will be seventeen award categories in the popular segment, eight award categories in the technical award segment and a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Speaking at the event, Prosenjit Chatterjee said “It is a special event and was earlier held in high esteem and at par with the Filmfare Awards and National Awards. But now the grandeur has lessened but we are trying again to get back the lost glory. The theme of this year’s award ceremony is Content is the king vs Audience is the king”.

Three talented actors will be hosting the show with a roller coaster ride of last year releases.

Chiranjeet Chakraborty suggested that there must be two separate sections kept at the award ceremony. One should be for the commercial films and the other should be for the not so commercial films. This will help in maintaining the balance and also urge the audiences to come to the halls to watch the commercial films. Otherwise commercial films will cease to exist.

WBFJA is the first digitally broadcasted event of the eastern region.

The award ceremony will be held on 13^th January 2019 from 9.30 am onwards at Basushree Cinema, Kolkata.
