One of India’s top non-governmental organizations, Child in Need Institute (CINI), commemorated its 50 years of “Commitment to the Children and Communities” at Science City in Kolkata. To promote kid involvement and preserve the idea of “Child-Friendly Communities,” four teenage boys and girls from four Indian states served as the program’s Chief Guests.

The children, dressed in the traditional garb of four states, lit the lamp in front of Ms. Indrani Bhattacharya, CEO of CINI, members of the governing body, guests from around the world, government officials, and senior CINI management.

The theme of the day was Nothing can wait for the children and people have to start from today itself for the betterment of the children. The opening song, “Kal Noi Aaj E” (Tomorrow is too late), set the tone for the event.

In honor of the organization’s 50 years of committed efforts and journey, CINI also published a book titled “Tomorrow Is Too Late” on the same day. To assist in translating child rights into development practice, the book details the amazing journey of fifty years of working together with communities, government agencies, service providers, and other stakeholders to support vulnerable children.

The Hon. President of India has twice given CINI, the only NGO in the nation, the prestigious Award for its work in the national health category.

Global members of the CINI Support Group also discussed their affiliation and experience with CINI.

During the program, historical pictures and an audio-visual record of CINI’s 50 years of history were displayed. A dance performance by young children showcasing India’s diverse cultural legacies closed the evening.
