City Champions 2024-Sole Focus On Sustainable Urban Development
A localized content and upskilling platform called Josh Talks announced the debut of City Champions 2024. City Champions has devoted itself to locating, promoting, and assisting organizations that promote sustainable urban development since its founding in 2023.
In India, 600 million people—or 40% of the country’s total population—will reside in urban areas by 2036, according to a 2022 World Bank report. As a result, there will probably be more demand for things like safe and effective road transport, dependable electricity supplies, and clean drinking water, which will strain India’s already overburdened urban infrastructure and services.
Constructing the required infrastructure is essential to establishing livable, inclusive, and climate-resilient cities that boost the economy. Organizations are attempting to do this, thus it’s important to recognize, support, and financially assist them in their endeavors.
The program seeks to identify specific organizations in eight theme areas: public safety, urban public transportation, sustainable infrastructure, water and sanitation, youth and child welfare, city planning, and climate action. It is supported by Omidyar Network India. Throughout a 12-week capacity-building program, City Champions 2024 aims to equip 16 impact-driven companies with improved capabilities, market readiness, investment readiness, and rapid growth and expansion. The accelerator partner for this program is IIM Calcutta Innovation Park.
Josh Talks has also partnered with Prasiddhi Forest Foundation to plant a tree for each application that is received for City Champions 2024.
Organizations interested in applying can access the application form here: www.joshtalks.com/citychampions/. Applications are open till 20th May 2024.
