Arabbya Rajani or Arabian Nights is one of the most famous collections of magical stories which have great popularity all over the world. The stories originated in Persia and only later became known throughout the world as the Arabian Nights. The collection includes stories, within stories, within stories, and this is the story that binds them all together with a single thread.

Shahryār, a Persian King, is betrayed by his wife. In his bitterness and grief, he decides that all women are the same. Shahryār begins to marry a succession of maidens only to execute each one the next morning. Scheherazade, the vizier’s daughter, offers herself as the next bride. On the night of their marriage, Scheherazade begins to tell the king a tale, but does not end it.

Some of the stories include Aladdin’s Wonderful Lamp, Sindbad, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. The first story shown will be Alibaba and the Forty Thieves.

Other tales vary widely and include historical tales, love stories, tragedies, comedies and poems among others. Numerous stories depict jinns, ghouls, apes, sorcerers, magicians, and legendary places, which are often intermingled with real people and geography.

Gaurav Mondal who was last seen in the role of Lord Shiva in Om Namah Shivay will play the role of Shahryār and actress Jasmine Roy will play the role of Scheherazade. Jasmine had earlier essayed the lead role in Meera on COLORS Bangla.

The show will go on air from 14th January at 7.30 pm on COLORS Bangla.
