Chowman, in association with The Bengal Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCC&I), organized the Aharer Ekal Sekal Part II.

This was curated by Debaditya Chaudhury, Chairman of the Lifestyle Committee- BCC&I.

This initiative was aimed at celebrating and recognizing the iconic food joints that have shaped the culinary scene in Kolkata.

Gracing the occasion were eminent guests like Anupam Roy, Rajatava Dutta, Imraz Zaki, Bickram Ghosh, and Tanusree Shankar.

Tanusree Shankar said, “I love to eat, and this is evident from my looks. My father was a doctor, and I used to listen to the names of these famous restaurants from him. There were no fancy eateries during my youth. However, these places served amazing food for all. I am glad they are recognized”.

Rajatava Dutta said that these food joints make us all nostalgic about old times. Whenever anyone enters such a food joint, they are transported back in time.

Bickram Ghosh said, “Bengalis love food. Whatever we do revolves around food. After we artists complete a performance, the next thing we think about is what we should eat. Heritage takes time to build. And these eating establishments have been preserving the heritage of Kolkata. Honoring them is a great initiative”.

Debaditya Chaudhury said that this initiative is a humble effort to honor those food joints that have been catering to the needs of the people for many years.

Also gracing the occasion was Sukanya Bose, Director of The Bengal Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

The different food joints that were honoured were:

Paramount, Shiv Shakti Sharbat, Kapila Ashram, Calcutta Club, Bengal Club, Bombay Hotel, Rao’s Udipi Home, Balwant Singh’s Eating House, Parbati Hotel, Adarsha Hindu Hotel, Sabir’s Hotel, D’ley Chinese Eating House, Tung Nam, Kafulok, Campari, Lakshminarayan Shaw and Sons, Shiraz, Mocambo, Flurys, The Kanchan and K Ali Bakery.
