Three organisations in Kolkata brought together differently-abled children with a range of cognitive challenges for a happy day of entertainment and creative expression at Colours of Concern, a project of the Concern India Foundation.

The event was held at the Freemasons Hall and brought together sixty children. It was spearheaded by a student, Ms Nitya Himatsingka, as a part of her project Brainbow, which aims to support the development of differently-abled children.

Staff members of the Concern India Foundation, senior members of the District Grand Lodge of Bengal and the Regional Grand Lodge of Eastern India, as well as Nitya’s parents, were present to support their daughter’s admirable endeavours.

The day was full of vibrant energy and excitement, culminating in a delightful magic show that the children thoroughly enjoyed. Nitya, a student of Class XII at Modern High School for Girls, not only raised funds to organize the event but also contributed to the Concern India Foundation’s ongoing work with differently-abled children across India. With the help of Colours of Concern, these children were given a platform to express their creativity and emotions through the beautiful medium of art.

Nitya herself was actively involved in every aspect of the event, including conducting an interactive session with the parents of the children, where she shared helpful tips on appropriate nutrition for their children after conducting extensive research on the topic. As a follow-up, she plans to volunteer with one of the participating schools or NGOs to further support the children in reaching their full potential.

The Concern India Foundation is dedicated to fostering the growth of children with disabilities and anticipates hosting more significant events in the future.
