Continuing Traditions- Shows Amazing Musical Heritage Of Ireland & India
Director Donal O Ceilleachair’s Continuing Traditions was screened under Special Screening at the 29th Kolkata International Film Festival.
Ustad Wajahat Khan and his son graced the press conference at the 29th KIFF.
The film has been compiled from over 40 hours of footage that has been filmed over two years. The film explores the music of Indian classical musician and composer Ustad Wajahat Khan and Irish composer, musician, and choir director Peadar O Riada. Continuing Traditions showcases the shared musical heritage of traditions of Ireland and India.
Speaking at the event, Ustad Wajahat Khan said “The director never let us feel that there were cameras around. He took the shots without disturbing us”.
This project began forty years ago.
The music has been composed by Gary Keane.
The cast of the film consists of Peadar O Riada, Wajahat Khan, and Mick O Brien.
The English film is 80 minutes long.
