Cricket and Durga Puja To Come Together in Carnival Cricket League 2019
For the first time in Bengal, cricket and Durga Puja has been merged together. Wondering how? Then you must be happy to know that this has been made possible with the launch of Carnival Cricket League 2019, a knock out tournament between the sixteen socio-cultural clubs of Kolkata.
The launch was graced by Laxmi Ratan Shukla, Honourable Minister of State Sports and Youth Activities, Govt of West Bengal, Saurasish Lahiri, former Bengal Cricketer, Saurajit Chatterjee, Founder Carnival Sports & Entertainment and others.
The aim of the tournament is to unite the top sixteen socio-cultural clubs around the city.
“Cricket is immensely popular not only in Bengal but also in India. And with the introduction of this tournament, this will help to unite cricket with one of the most important festivals of the city- Durga Puja” said Laxmi Ratan Shukla.
The league will be based on a knock out system of the top sixteen socio-cultural club teams around the city. The match will be six over a side. The tournament will take place on 14th and 15th September at Turf XL Sports Complex, New Alipore.
A special cricket match involving various celebrities and sports personalities will be another attraction of the tournament.
The tournament is being organized by Carnival Sports & Entertainment.
