Dabaru Pre-Teaser Poster Out Now; Eminent Chess Players Grace Occasion
Eminent chess players like Viswanathan Anand, Surya Sekhar Ganguly, Vidit Gujrathi, Dommaraju Gukesh, Ramesh Babu Praggnanandhaa, Arjun Erigaisi, Pentala Harikrishna with cast of Dabaru like Rituparna Sengupta, Shankar Chakraborty unveiled the pre-teaser poster of the film.
The story of the film is about a young chess player named Surya who started from the alleys of North Kolkata and later became a grandmaster. The story is inspired by the life of the youngest Grandmaster of India, Surya Sekhar Ganguly.
Surya Sekhar Ganguly said “I am looking forward to how the humane side of my life has been shown in the film. They have not only merely focused on how many matches I have won or how many championships I have participated in. The struggle that a player has is not limited to him. The family also struggles with it. The director used to call me many times to understand the nuances of the game. And the young actors who have acted have done a tremendous job”.
Dabaru is directed by Pathikrit Basu. “I am really blessed that this film was produced by Windows. Not much film has been made on sports in Bengali films. And even less so for films made on sports like chess. This is probably the first film made on chess in India. And to have such amazing chess players launch the pre-teaser poster is an amazing experience” said the director.
The film is produced by Nandita Roy and Sanjay Agarwal.
The creative producers of the project are Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee.
The cast of the film consists of Chiranjit Chakraborty, Dipankar De, Kaushik Sen, Kharaj Mukherjee, Biswanath Basu and others.
Rituparna Sengupta said “I am really thrilled that I am associated with a sports film like this. When I first listened to the script, I wanted to be a part of this film. This is a film made on not so popular sport. Films on football and cricket are common but a film on chess is rather uncommon. I am so elated that I could be a part of this unique film that will surely make a mark”.
Viswanathan Anand said “I am excited to see how others perceive chess players. It will be interesting to see what sides of Surya’s life will be shown in this film. I have known him for quite some time and I am looking forward to seeing what events from his life will be shown in the film. Family support is very important for chess players, Behind every chess player, there is a long-suffering mother. This will be one exciting film to look forward to”.
A good film to look forward to!!
