Darbar-E-Padabali To Restore The Lost Heritage Of Kirtan
The Bengali kirtan represents a significant milestone in Indian music, encompassing melodic elements, language, philosophy, and artistic application that are all part of an elite and sophisticated class. In the present era, it has been noted that this magnificent resource is progressively becoming less respected because of poor preservation and a lack of practice among the general public. Darbar-e Padabali is an admirable project that aims to turn back time and restore the once-great high-note Kirtan heritage.
With a few exceptions, the Kirtan tradition has steadily become taboo within a certain demographic of listeners during the nineteenth century. The initiative and sole goal of “Darbar-e Padabali” is to dispel this myth. At this event, the globally acclaimed Pandit Shyam Sundar Goswami and his student Smt. Debalina Ghosh will unveil the essence of this subject, which they have dedicated their lives to studying. This special gift from the guru-shishya (teacher and pupil) would be made in front of the Bengali audience.
The event will take place on 19th January at 5.30 pm at Birla Academy of Art and Culture.
